About an hour before E.J. Price’s scheduled announcement Wednesday afternoon, rumors of a hard-charging Southern Cal started to heat up on Twitter. Those rumors soon became reality as the offensive lineman from Archer (Lawrenceville, Ga.) did indeed select the Trojans in a big National Signing Day surprise.
Price was thought to be a Georgia commit. He had previously made a verbal commitment to the Dawgs last April but re-opened his recruiting two months later. Smart’s move across the SEC from Alabama after the firing of Mark Richt was supposedly enough for Price to come back into the fold with his home-state school, but the Trojans swooped in at the last minute.

A four-star recruit, the 6-foot-6, 311-pound Price is an Under Armour All-American and the No. 8 offensive tackle in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. At No. 84 nationally, he is the sixth top-100 recruit for the Trojans and one of three O-linemen in the class.
“It’s been a really tough decision,” Price said while he stood up at a crowded press conference in the Archer High cafeteria. “For the next four years of my life I will be at the University of Southern California.”
Price then put on a fresh Southern Cal hat, sat down in his chair and signed his letter of intent.
On top of Auburn, Price was also considering LSU and Michigan State.
