Sophomore kicker Anthony Reyes hit a 21-yard field goal, and Dixie State beat Adams State 24-21 on the road Saturday afternoon.
The win improved DSU to 5-4 overall and 5-3 in the RMAC. It’s the most wins the Trailblazers have had in their NCAA Division II history.
Running back DeJon Coleman rushed for a career-high 206 yards and a touchdown, becoming the DSU career rushing leader with 1,505 yards and rushing touchdowns with 15.
Coleman scored DSU’s first touchdown on a one-yard run in the first quarter.
Receiver Aubrey Reed hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, and running back Clifford Simms ran for a two-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Trailblazers play at Colorado State-Pueblo next Saturday at 2 p.m. for a chance at a first winning season in their Division II history.
SUU basketball: T-Birds win exhibition game
Randy Onwuasor scored 35 points as SUU men’s basketball beat The Master’s University 110-86 in a Saturday exhibition game.
Ivan Madunic had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Decardo Day scored 17 points, and both John Marshall and Race Parsons scored 12 points.
The T-Birds trailed 54-49 at halftime against the Mustangs, an NAIA school from Southern California. Twelve players saw action for SUU and nine scored at least two points.
SUU will host La Verne University in another exhibition game on Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Centrum Arena.
College soccer: Dixie State men win 12th straight
Dominic Damato scored the lone goal as the Trailblazer men’s soccer team knocked off Dominican 1-0 on Saturday night at Dixie High School.
DSU improved to 12-3 overall and 10-0 in the PacWest Conference as the first-place Trailblazers won their 12th straight match.
Dixie State hosts Notre Dame de Namur at 1 p.m. on Monday at Dixie State.
College soccer: DSU women’s winning streak ends
The DSU women fell 1-0 to the Penguins later that night and fell to 9-5 overall and 7-2 in the PacWest. The Traiblazers saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end.
DSU hosts Notre Dame de Namur on Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Dixie State.
Enterprise volleyball takes fourth at state tournament
The Enterprise volleyball team’s season came to an end in the semifinals of the 2A state tournament at Utah Valley University Saturday.
The Wolves lost in straight sets against North Summit (25-20, 25-20, 25-12), then lost to Delta in the third-place game.
Enterprise had been to the championship game every year since 2012, winning the title in 2013 and 2014.
The Wolves finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 27-8.
