Boys state track: With the girls competing on Thursday, the boys state track meet will be held all day Friday at MTSU’s Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.
Brentwood Academy’s George Patrick will be an athlete to watch in DII, as he had the top qualifying time in four separate events (300 hurdles, 110-meter hurdles, triple jump and long jump).
Field events begin at 9 a.m, with running events slated to start at 3 p.m.
Individual tennis finals: A Brentwood High trio will be attempting their second state title in three days when the state individual tennis finals are played at Old Fort Park.
Somer Henry is in the Class AAA singles finals while her teammates, Katie DeWald and Georgia Fischer, will be competing in the doubles finals.
Another Fischer, Bruin singles player Sam Fischer, will be attempting a state championship as well when he takes on Science Hill’s Andrew Morton in the AAA finals.
Friday’s action gets under way at 9 a.m.
Seeing Stars: The Siegel baseball team punched its ticket to the Class AAA final, thanks to two wins over Summit on Thursday. The Stars will play Arlington at 5 p.m. at MTSU for the state title.
Meanwhile, the Siegel softball team will try to play its way into the AAA final when the Lady Stars take on Gibbs at 9 a.m. at Starplex in the losers bracket final. A win would put Siegel against defending state runner-up Dickson County in Friday’s 3 p.m. final.
District, region, state rivals: District 12-AA rivals Christ Presbyterian Academy and Spring Hill will meet once again this year, and this will be for the Class AA baseball crown.
Spring Hill won both the district title (3-1) and Region 6-AA title (9-2) over the defending state champion Lions. The title game is set for 2 p.m. at MTSU.
Soccer finals: A pair of Midstate soccer squads will be vying for state titles at Siegel Soccer Complex Friday.
Ravenwood will attempt to knock off Bearden for the AAA crown at 1:30 p.m., while CPA will try to win its second consecutive state title in what will be a third straight state title game appearance vs. rival Christian Academy of Knoxville. That match is set for 4 p.m.
