St. Mary's settles in top spot, Cardinal O'Hara leads six new teams in Super 25 girls basketball rankings

St. Mary’s (Stockton, Calif.) won two big holiday tournaments to improve to 13-0 and solidify its spot at No. 1 in the Super 25 girls basketball rankings.

The Rams defeated Forestville (Md.) Military Academy 77-62 in the championship of Title IX Classic in Washington, D.C. as Naje Murray had 19 points. They also went 4-0 at Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, defeating then-No. 9 Riverdale Baptist (Upper Marlboro, Md.) 75-70 as Aquira DeCosta had 21 points in the championship of the tournament’s Joe Smith Division.

There are six new teams, led by No. 12 Cardinal O’Hara (Springfield, Pa.), which is 9-0 and defeated Holy Cross (Kensington, Md.) 55-47 in the championship of the Cardinal O’Hara Holiday Classic. Mary Sheehan led the Lions with 17 points.

The other new teams: No. 14 Cicero-North Syracuse, Cicero, N.Y.; No. 22 Riverdale, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; No. 23 John Glenn, Bay City, Mich.; No. 24 Central Valley, Spokane Valley, Wash.; and No. 25 Little Rock Central, Little Rock, Ark.
