Wednesday marked the first match of the Spackenkill High School boys golf season. But for Erik Stauderman, it was just the latest round in a summer filled with standout golf.
Behind Stauderman’s round of 35, the Spartans defeated visiting Ellenville 164-207 at par-36 McCann Memorial Golf Course.
Stauderman had two birdies and six pars. The feat came 13 days after he won the Met PGA Junior Classic at Smithtown Landing Country Club on Long Island.
Teammate Ryan Ackert shot a 39 with six pars. Ryan Lo carded a 45 with four pars, while Zachary Cioffi and Collin Smith also shot 45s.
“This was definitely a confidence booster,” Spackenkill coach Keith Humphrey said. “They’ve been working hard to generate positive scores and they did. It was very important to get off to a good start.”
The Spartans (1-0) continue their season on Wednesday, when they return to McCann to face off with Franklin D. Roosevelt.
“This is going to be a very interesting match,” Humphrey said. “You have two very good teams. There will be a lot of interesting shots on the course Wednesday.”
