Over spring break from Tuesday, March 22nd to Monday, March 28th Will Wharton, a senior at Chartiers Valley, stayed a week in the historic city of Charleston, South Carolina where he couldn’t of been happier. Over the span of the week Will Wharton visited many plantations like Middleton’s Carolina Gold Rice and learned the history of the people who lived on and ran the plantations. Wharton said that this was extremely interesting and could not wait to come back to the High School and share. Will Wharton stayed with his aunt, uncle, and papa from his dads side of the family. Will said that “exploring the history of the town was my favorite part of the trip.” He went to numerous shops on Kings Street where he bought clothes and gifts for himself and his mom at home. He ate at many restaurants downtown with his favorite food being shrimp and ribs. Wharton went on boat trips with his family on the marshes. Will loved the atmosphere and the people in the south by saying they were truly kind with showing a great deal of Southern Hospitality that you do not see much of where we live. Will said that he would like to attend one of the many colleges in Charleston or in South Carolina someday, however, he did not visit any colleges while he was down there. A downfall of this trip was on his way home when he had a layover in Charlotte, his flight got delayed by 40 minutes and he said that he was rather annoyed and at that point could not wait to come home.
