The quarterfinal scores:
Analysis: The quarterfinal round was the closest yet. The 2008 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) team, powered by the one-two running back tandem of Giovanni Bernard and James White, both of whom are now in the NFL, eked out a victory over the high-flying Lake Travis (Austin, Texas) team from the same year.
The 2012 Bellevue squad, led by future UCLA and Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Myles Jack, rolled past the 2008 Allen team, led by future Texas A&M wide receiver Uzoma Nwakuche.
Long day for Lone Star State: All three remaining teams (2008 Lake Travis, 2008 Allen and 2009 Abilene) bowed out in the quarterfinals. Three of the four remaining teams are in the Pacific Time Zone.
Mirror defeat: While the 2013 St. John Bosco prevailed over the 2009 Don Bosco Prep team, both schools were named for the same man, Saint John Bosco. He was also known as Don Bosco and was a Catholic priest, educator and writer who founded the Salesian order of priests and nuns, known for their work in education.
