The Courier-Journal is excited to announce two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Peyton Manning as the guest speaker at the upcoming Courier-Journal Kentuckiana Sports Awards Banquet presented by Norton Sports Health.

Manning, a five-time Associated Press NFL MVP, set many major NFL records during an 18-season career with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, including career passing touchdowns (539), most passing yards in a career (71,940) and in a single season (5,477), and most wins including playoff games (200).

The red-carpet Kentuckiana Sports Awards Banquet is set for June 14 at the Kentucky Exposition Center, where The Courier-Journal will honor the best athletes in Metro Louisville and Southern Indiana and name high school athletes of the year, coaches of the year and recognize other special athletes.

“We are pleased Peyton will join us for our inaugural Kentuckiana Sports Awards celebration,” Courier-Journal President Wesley Jackson said. “He has a powerful message that extends beyond athletics, and he will be instrumental in creating an amazing experience for both the student-athletes and all of our guests.”

All athletes named to The Courier-Journal’s All-Area Teams for fall, winter and spring sports and winners of the Metro Louisville and Southern Indiana Athlete of the Week Awards along with a guest will be invited free of charge. Eligible athletes will soon receive RSVP information through their athletic directors. Athletes will be able to purchase a limited number of additional tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Courier-Journal will be announcing winter sport All-Area Teams this week, including Metro Louisville boys swimming, Metro Louisville girls swimming, Southern Indiana boys swimming, Southern Indiana girls swimming, Metro Louisville boys bowling, Southern Indiana girls bowling, Metro Louisville wrestling, Southern Indiana wrestling, Metro Louisville boys basketball, Metro Louisville girls basketball, Southern Indiana boys basketball and Southern Indiana girls basketball.
