Newly crowned Gatorade National Football Player of the Year Tate Martell is Ohio State’s next quarterback, and he hasn’t been shy about trying to draw in fellow top recruits, with a fair rate of success. Now he thinks that four of the nation’s top uncommitted prospects could join him in Columbus.
Martell took to Twitter on Wednesday to hype up Ohio State’s incoming class, and then dropped the possibility of adding four more heavy hitters.
If you don’t want to click through, those four top prospects are top wide receiver prospect Donovan Peoples-Jones, defensive tackle Marvin Wilson, cornerback Darnay Holmes, and cornerback Jeffrey Okudah. Wilson and Okudah are from Texas, Holmes is Californian and Peoples-Jones hails from Michigan. Peoples-Jones from state champion Cass Tech is scheduled to make his announcement Thursday night on ESPNU.
Of course, Martell is headed to Ohio State after spending three of his four high school years in Las Vegas after starting in California. Urban Meyer’s recruiting is national, and Martell is both proof of that and a draw for other star athletes at the same time. Whether he’s a strong enough draw to land the likes of Peoples-Jones, Wilson, Holmes and/or Okudah remains to be seen, but he’s certainly not hurting by shouting them all out.
