Dallas Jesuit’s Kyle Muller, who’s headed to Texas to play baseball next year, had quite the outing in a game Monday against Austin Lake Travis.
Muller struck out the first 18 batters he faced and carried a perfect game into the seventh before allowing a single, which he followed up with another strikeout. In his past three starts combined to that point, Muller had recorded 36 consecutive outs — all on strikeouts. That streak ended when he coaxed a double-play ground ball to end the seventh inning.
He finished Monday’s game with 21 strikeouts, and, according to the Dallas Morning News, Muller is 4-0 on the season with a microscopic 0.42 ERA in 33 innings, with a whopping 66 strikeouts.
