The Damon Harge Jr. Blog: Back to N.C., laundry duty, hungry for more offers

Christ School’s (Arden, N.C.) Damon Harge Jr. is one of the most well-known high school basketball players on YouTube with more than 15 million views on his highlight videos; and it’s been that way since he was 11. Harge, one of the top point guards in the 2018 class, helped Orlando Christian Prep (Orlando, Fla.) win a state title as an eighth grader and holds offers from high major schools. Now he’s agreed to give USA TODAY HSS exclusive access into his world by chronicling everything from his recruitment to his everyday life in a blog.

Damon Harge

What’s up everybody this is my sixth blog and I just transferred from Florida back to North Carolina to attend Christ School.

It’s definitely been bittersweet so far.

I say that because I miss my family a lot, but everything else is great!

I love the school and I’m growing up a lot.

I have to wake up every morning at 5:30 a.m. with my coach, do my own laundry, get food and put in about three workouts a day.

I like the people and the environment here too. Everybody cares and everybody’s supportive here; they’re just with you 100 percent.

I feel like this whole experience is gonna make me a lot more responsible and make me a better person and player.

Our team is looking strong.

We’ve got Giir Ring he’s a 6-9 small forward that can really shoot it and he’s got good offers and interest. We’re big too; we go 6-9, 6-1, 6-7 and 6-10.

I think we’re gonna make some noise for sure this season.

My recruitment is going OK.

I’ve heard from Baylor, Clemson, Butler, Furman, Arizona State and a few other schools.

I definitely want more schools to get involved so I’m focused on taking care of business on the court. That’s what I can control.

My biggest goal this season is to win states. I think if I’m able to do that everything else will take care of itself.

It’s a big deal for me because I’ve already got a state title in Florida so I want another one in another state.

I always tell you guys about music, but, to be honest, with my schedule I haven’t had as much time to listen to any new music. When I do get time I’m mostly listening to Future. He’s my favorite rapper.

OK, thanks again everybody for reading my latest blog. I’m gonna get out of here and get some more work in, but I’ll be back soon with another one.
