Lauren Cox is the No. 1 overall player in the ESPN HoopGurlz 100 and has signed with Baylor. Last summer, Cox, a forward at Flower Mound (Flower Mound, Texas), earned her third gold medal, this time with the USA U19 National Team. Now she’s agreed to give USA TODAY HSS exclusive access into her world by chronicling everything from intimate details about her recruitment to her everyday life in a blog.

Hey guys, this is Lauren Cox here to give you guys another update!

My season ended about two weeks ago; we lost in the second round to Duncanville. We played ‘em tough but they’re a really good team. We lost by nine and that’s one of the closets games they’ve had this season.

It’s bittersweet.

I had a great four years at Flower Mound and I’ve got lots of memories over the years, but I’m definitely excited about my next chapter at Baylor, too.

I try and get to as many games there at Baylor as I can. I went to the Texas game and they won the Big 12 championship so they had the net-cutting ceremony and all that so it was pretty cool.

I took a week off after we lost and I started back to working out after school last week. Baylor gave me workouts that they want me to do so I’m doing that every other day and shooting a lot.

I’m definitely ready to experience the McDonald’s All American Game later this month. I think what I’m most looking forward to is the whole experience; being able to go talk to the kids at the McDonald’s House and being around all of the top players just having a good time. It should be fun!

I’m hoping that I’ll get picked for the Jordan Brand Classic! I hope to find out about that soon and then I’m going to the men’s Final Four for the three-point shooting contest so I’m looking forward to that too!

School is pretty easy for me this semester, I have senior ends so I don’t have a first period and I get to school at 9:45 a.m.

My grades are still good!

I’ve got to tell you guys, I saw that movie The Boy and it was pretty scary; definitely pretty good. Then I saw Deadpool and that was pretty funny. I’d definitely say check both of those out.

OK, everyone I hope you liked this one! I’ll be back soon with another update.
