The Battle Creek Enquirer put out the question:
Which area high school marching band should be considered the Best Band In The Land?
After over 90,000 votes in the Enquirer website poll, the answer is the Marshall High School Marching Band.
Marshall finished first in the Enquirer online poll with 40,427 votes.
Battle Creek Central was second with 38,543 votes with Lakeview coming in third.
The Marshall band, led by band directors Jeremy Root, Amanda Burdette and drum majors Veronica Klingel, Natalie Stiner, have 130 members. Marshall’s show this football season has a ‘One More Time’ theme and features A-Ha, Daft Punk medley, Cheerleader, Viva La Vida.
The Marshall band was described as, “a group that prioritizes school spirit, camaraderie, pride in our group, and having fun together. We do not perform at festivals or competitions – however, having a musical ensemble that plays and marches to the highest level possible is a priority for us. We have been able to achieve a balance of maintaining very high standards while also understanding that you have to have fun along the way,” Root said.
