The Mike Leach Washington State rebuild is going swimmingly, thank you very much. After a 9-win season that included a victory over Miami in the 2015 Sun Bowl. there is little question that the Cougars and Leach’s innovative and daring Air Raid offense are heading in the right direction. Now the Cougars may be receiving a turbo booster in the form of 4-star wide receiver prospect Isaiah Hodgins.
The offensive star of Berean Christian in California and son of former Rams Super Bowl winner James Hodgins, the younger man chose Washington State ahead of a host of other opportunities, including scholarship offers from the likes of Florida State, Michigan, Nebraska and half of the Pac-12, including Oregon and Washington. He made his decision with a thoroughly elaborate hat ceremony in which he eschewed more than 10 perfectly good looking hats on a table during a spring practice for a Washington State visor he pulled out from another bag. You can see the full decision ceremony directly below.
In the end, Washington State appears to have won out thanks both to Leach’s system and his comfort in knowing he’ll be a key piece in the Cougars offense from Day 1 in Pullman.
As for Leach, he can surely feel relieved that he has an incoming receiver who brings more than 2,500 yards receiving in varsity competition … with a full senior season still to come.
