BALLARD (9-3) AT TRINITY (12-0)
* Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
* Next week: Winner will host Male-St. Xavier winner in Class 6-A state semifinal.
* Ballard: Junior quarterback Terrance May accounted for all six touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) as the Bruins beat Central Hardin 41-35 in overtime last week. May’s 1-yard touchdown run on fourth down ended the game after Central Hardin missed a field-goal try on its overtime possession. The Bruins fell to Trinity 55-0 four weeks ago.
* Trinity: The Shamrocks – No. 1 in the state in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings and No. 17 in the nation in the USA Today Super 25 – blitzed Eastern 49-0 last week as Spencer Blackburn passed for 270 yards and four touchdowns. In his first game of eligibility since transferring from New Albany, junior wide receiver Rondale Moore had three catches for 111 yards and three touchdowns. The shutout was the fifth straight for a Trinity defense that is allowing 7.7 points per game.
* Quotable: “I have to compliment the kid to have the patience to go through that many football games and he can’t practice and can’t get a feel for the offense,” Shamrocks coach Bob Beatty said of Moore. “I have to compliment our staff for arranging some formations and plays where he had the chance to be the primary receiver. If you’re thinking, you’re not playing football. Our staff allowed him to play football and be free.”
* Pick: Trinity 45-7.
