DESALES (10-2) AT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (11-1)
* Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
* Next week: Winner will host Mayfield-Owensboro Catholic winner in Class 2-A state semifinal.
* DeSales: The Colts built a 38-7 halftime lead and hung on to beat Glasgow 47-28 last week. Five different Colts rushed for touchdowns, with senior Gilly Simpson (12 carries, 75 yards) leading the ground attack. DeSales has lost six straight regular-season meetings against CAL, including 12-7 this year, but has avenged those defeats in the playoffs each of the past four seasons.
* Christian Academy: The Centurions ran their winning streak to 11 with a 42-0 victory over Washington County last week. Sophomore Milton Wright scored four touchdowns in the victory and has 21 total TDs this season. He’s also CAL’s top receiver with 34 catches for 575 yards. The Centurions are trying to reach the state semifinals for the first time in program history.
* Quotable: “We’ve never been past this point, and I feel like we’ve had some teams that could do it,” CAL coach Stefan LeFors said. “It’s just a matter of going out and doing it. … I think it’s fair to say this would be the biggest win in our program’s history if we can get it.”
* Pick: DeSales 24-21.
