After spending last season at Chaminade Prep (West Hills, Calif.), Makur Maker has arrived in Canada where his famous cousins made their names.
Makur, a cousin of NBA first-round pick Thon Maker and younger brother Matur, will play at the new Prolific Prep North program in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Thon played at Orangeville Prep before being drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in June. Matur, a 6-9 forward that has garnered interest from top college teams and was at Orangeville, will join Makur at Prolific Prep North.
Makur is a 6-11 prospect in the Class of 2020 who averaged 9.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game at Chaminade.
Makur only started playing basketball four years ago, but his skills have quickly accelerated. He remains raw, but he has size and athleticism.
“He’s a world-class athlete,” says Anthony “Huggy” Otto, director of basketball operations for Prolific Prep North told NorthPoleHoops.com. “He can run the court like a 6’4 guard. He’s not even aware of all the things he is capable of, after 15 minutes in the gym I helped him realize he can dunk from the free throw line with ease. He had no idea.”
