The newest edition of the Super 25 girls high school lacrosse rankings remain mostly unchanged after a week that saw just a few results taking place in the northeast among the remaining teams fighting for state titles.
As the state championships in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania play out this weekend, a number of teams scattered throughout the Super 25 could seal up their spots or keep themselves in the mix to close out the year.
This week, Summit will look to lock up its spot at No. 5 in the rankings in the New Jersey Tournament of Champions finale against No. 13 Ridgewood. Summit’s one-sided win over longtime Garden State powerhouse Moorestown in the NJSIAA Group 3 final produces movement in this week’s rankings, sending the Quakers out of the top 25 and bringing New York’s North Rockland in at No. 25.
Garden City, winners of the Long Island Class B championship, is onto the New York State semifinals and is a favorite to win the state title, but will have to get past Victor first in the semifinals on June 10.
Another top ten Super 25 squad, Christian Brothers Academy of Syracuse, is also playing in the state semifinals. With the Brothers facing North Rockland in one of the NYSPHSAA Class A semifinals and No. 12 West Islip facing Pittsford in the other, there are big Super 25 implications in the Empire State’s final weekend of play.
Massachusetts and Pennsylvania will also see their state champions crowned, and No. 23 Westwood and No. 24 Conestoga will look to keep their spots in the national rankings.
