Stratford 20, East Nashville 19
Friday was a day that Stratford’s T.J. Carter will never forget. After committing to Memphis in the morning, Carter caught a game-winning 3-yard touchdown pass from Josh Trueheart with eight seconds left — on a fourth-down play. Carter also scored on a 99-yard kickoff return and a 14-yard run for the Spartans (3-0, 1-0 5-3A). Jashon Watkins had two rushing touchdowns for East Nashville (1-2, 0-1), including an 89-yard run, and also threw an 11-yard TD pass to Rondarius Gregory.
Riverdale 17, Blackman 14

Riverdale (1-2, 0-1 2-6A) missed a 33-yard field goal in the final two minutes and Blackman (1-1, 1-0) held on. Neither team scored in the second half. Blackman tailback Master Teague was held out of the second half after gaining 86 yards on 22 carries in the first half. Savion Davis ran for 123 yards on 18 carries and scored both Riverdale TDs.
Ravenwood 12, Mt. Juliet 7
Jim Roebuck connected on a pair of second-half field goals to help Ravenwood (2-1, 1-0 3-6A) to a win over the Bears (1-2, 0-1). Roebuck hit from 22 yards and 41 yards. Mt. Juliet quarterback Mason Earls’ scored on a keeper with 53 seconds left, but the Bears failed to get the onside kick to allow the Raptors to hold on.
Baylor 17, Ensworth 7
Baylor (3-0, 1-0 DII-AA East/Middle) handed Ensworth (1-2, 0-1) its first loss to a Tennessee opponent this season. Ensworth’s Jarquis Hendric’s 1-yard TD run with 7:54 left in the third quarter tied the game at 7. But Baylor’s Emanuel William reeled in a 36-yard TD catch from Lorenzo White, and Keegan Weekley put the game away with a 29-yard field goal with 4:46 left.
Page 26, Spring Hill 25
Bubba Johnson scored twice, including one from 3 yards with 38 seconds to clinch the win for Page (1-1, 1-0 4-4A). Johnson had 109 rushing yards on 22 carries. Jacob Van Landingham completed 15 of 29 passes for 148 yards. Dountae Smith led Spring Hill (2-1) with 154 rushing yards.
Brentwood Academy 41, Pope John Paul II 14
Tomario Pleasant rushed for 106 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries as Brentwood Academy (2-1, 1-0 DII-Class AA East/Middle) defeated Pope John Paul II (2-1, 0-1). Ben Brooks threw two touchdown passes for Pope John Paul II, completing 22 of 29 passes for 232 yards with two interceptions.
CPA 35, White House Heritage 13
Christ Presbyterian Academy (1-2, 1-0 5-3A) scored 35 unanswered points after falling behind early. Lions sophomore quarterback Ryan Eledge completed 16 of 21 pass attempts for 273 yards and one touchdown. CPA finished with 522 yards of total offense. Senior running back Chris Rippy led White House Heritage (2-1, 0-1) with 84 yards rushing on 22 carries, including a 20-yard touchdown run.
Franklin 28, Overton 6
Junior Carter Hendry threw two touchdown passes to Mitch Rossi and ran for another for Franklin (2-1, 1-0 3-6A). Hendry completed 5 of 8 passes for 110 yards and added 92 yards on the ground. Tennessee commitment Theo Jackson scored the only touchdown for Overton (1-2, 0-1) on a 5-yard run.
Maplewood 27, Springfield 13
In the second half, Marco Petty scored on an 80-yard kickoff return and caught a 44-yard TD pass from Bobo Hodges to lead Maplewood (2-1, 1-0 5-4A). Dewayne Buckner hit Travion Woodard with a 33-yard TD pass for Springfield (1-2, 0-1).
