Stephanie Cassens of Rhinebeck High School won the 400-meter dash in 26.82 at the Section 9 girls track and field state qualifiers at Middletown High School Friday.
Cassens, along with Maggie Bennett, Elise Voorhis and Daisy Gadsby, won the 1,600 relay (4:01.11).
New Paltz’s Morgane Kuyl won the 100 hurdles (16.25) while teammate Kaela Santos won the discus throw (97 feet, 6 inches) in front of teammate Abigail Santos (93-7).
Dover’s Kristin Butts won the 200 (26.82), and Taylor Edmundson of Webutuck won the 2,000-meter steeplechase (7:34.79).
Arlington’s Maya Reina took second (9-6) and teammate Sarah McGowan was third (9-6) in the pole vault in the Section 1 Division 1 state qualifier late Thursday at Arlington High School. Meghan LaTuso took fourth in the 3,000 (10:27.37).
Beacon’s Jummie Akinwunmi placed third in the high jump (5-1). Ketcham’s Amani Arthur took fourth in the 100 meters (13.0 seconds) and teammate Oreoluwa Odeniyi placed fifth (13.02).
Lourdes’ Caroline Timm took second in the Division 2 800 meters (2:14.12). Teammate April Griggs took second in the shot put (29-11 1/2), and Katie Clarke tied for second in the high jump (4-9).
Abbey Stowell of Haldane won the 100 hurdles (16.97), long jump (4.63 meters) and the shot put (9.68 meters) of the pentathlon. Teammate Marina Martin took fourth in the 100 (13.49).
Boys track and field
Poughkeepsie’s Malik Lewis won the 100 (11.06) and the 200 (21.88) at the Section 9 state track and field qualifier, and joined Maurice Thomas, Shanric McFarlane and Trevon Reid to win the 400 relay (42.94).
New Paltz’s 400 relay team of Whitman Carroll, Matt Kanan, Mike Krebs and Eric Macaluso took first (44.44). Joe Canelo, Grant Harlow, Krebs and Kanan won the 1,600 relay (3:30.14) while Macaluso also won the 400 (50.62).
Red Hook’s Travis Cassner won the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:15.77).
Mathius Martin of Dover won the shot put (44-10 ¼). Teammate Tyler Belcher won the discus throw (135-7).
Spackenkill’s Kabongo Barry won the 200 (22.60).
Beacon’s Rayvon Grey won the long jump with a meet record of 25 feet, 2 inches on the first day of the Section 1 Division 1 track and field state qualifier meet late Thursday.
Teammate Terrel Davis took second (23-4 3/4). David Adams won the 110 meter hurdles (14.38).
Arlington’s Parish Durham won the high jump (6-6) and Ogemdi Chukwu took second in the 110 hurdles (15.11).
Matt Goldsmith of John Jay placed second in the high jump (6-2). Ketcham’s Danny Napora finished third in the 3,200 (9:38.92).
Lourdes’ Zachary Ropes won the 800 (1:57.70) and teammate Will Whelan took second (1:59.61) in Division 2. Fellow Warrior Jaheim Jones won the 100 (11.11).
Corbett Francis of Haldane was fourth in the Division 2 long jump (19-7) and teammate Stephen Junjulas took fifth (19-6).
Pawling’s Brennen Farrell won the 110 hurdles (17.05 seconds) and the shot put (9.78 meters) and took second in the long jump (5.56 meters) in the pentathlon.
