Estero’s Luke Farmer sits in a tie for third place after the first round of the Boys 2A FHSAA Golf Championships at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills.
The junior carded an even-par 72 Tuesday on the El Campeon Course with two birdies and two bogeys and is five shots back of leader Cody Carroll of Middleburg High School heading into Wednesday’s final round.
Farmer started on the 10th hole and bogeyed the 13th hole but bounced back with a birdie on the par-5 14th to go out in 37. On the front nine, Farmer dropped a shot on the 5th, but closed the day out with a birdie on the par-4 9th hole to come home in 35.
Estero’s Kim Egozi is in a tie for 40th in the Girls 2A FHSAA Golf Championships after shooting 88 on the Las Colinas Course.
Bishop Verot 8, St. John Neumann 0: Nina Gulati and Maddie Sarnac each registered hat tricks as the Vikings (1-0) began their season with a victory Tuesday night. Bryde Camron tallied the other two goals for Bishop Verot.
Fort Myers 3, Barron Collier 1: Olivia Talmage, Haley Peterson and Alyssa Wilson scored for the Green Wave (1-0) in their season-opening victory. Riley Monahan had 14 saves for Fort Myers.
East Lee 2, Dunbar 1: Diana Sierra scored on a corner kick for the winning goal for the Jaguars (1-1). Mia Alfaro scored her second goals in as many nights off an assist from Gabriela Green.
North Fort Myers 5, Riverdale 1: Tori Kowalczyk, Taylor Kruse and Emilee Hauser all picked up a goal and an assist for the Red Knights (1-0) in their season opening victory.
Estero 4, ECS 3: Mallory Hayden had two goals and an assist for the Sentinels (1-1). Molly Lunsford had the other goal and assisted on Hayden’s two goals for Evangelical Christian.
Clewiston 6, Sebring 1: Selinda Puentes had a hat trick to lead the Tigers (2-0). Kelsey Allison, Alayna Esperaza and Courtney Blandset also scored goals for Clewiston.
Clewiston 2, Lake Worth Christian 1 (From Monday): Kelsey Allison and Selena Gonzalez scored goals in the Tigers (1-0) season-opening victory.
