Two Viera High athletes joined the list of fall college sports signees on Thursday, signing for tennis and softball.
Sasha Belaya signed with the University of Illinois and Alyssa Loyd with Nova Southeastern.
Belaya won the Class 3A state singles championship in April in Altamonte Springs. She was the No. 1 seed and defeated second-seeded Geetha Velusamy in the final, 6-2, 6-3. She also teamed with Viera’s Isabella Diaz to win the state doubles title as well.
Loyd and the Hawks softball team advanced to the Class 7A regional final, also in April.
MCC holding alumni basketball game Wednesday
A full day of basketball is planned at Melbourne Central Catholic in Wednesday, and alumni are invited to join in the activities.
The school will hold an alumni game at 6 p.m., and both former boys and girls players are invited to play or to watch. It will be the fifth game of the day at the school, beginning with a freshman boys game at 12:30 p.m. The varsity girls and boys will host Eau Gallie at 3 and 4:30, respectively.
Who We Play For soccer game is Friday
Who We Play For, which raises funds to provide cardiac screening programs, will hold its fifth annual Brevard’s Finest soccer game at Mitchell Ellington Park on Hall Road on Merritt Island, Friday at 5 p.m.
Former Brevard high school soccer players are invited to play, and online registration is available at whoweplayfor.org/wwpf-florida. The cost is $20 online until noon Friday or $30 at the game. There will be a gathering after the game at Beef O’Brady’s on Courtenay Parkway.
Former Hustlers baseball players holding Friday event
Melbourne Central Catholic will hold its alumni baseball game on Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. The 2016 graduates will be honored for making it to the state semifinal round, and Kavan Thompson will be inducted into the Hustlers Baseball Hall of Fame.

EFSC holding tryouts, camps for high school athletes
Eastern Florida State College will offer two opportunities for athletes of high school age in early December.
On Dec. 3, high school juniors and seniors can attend tryouts for the women’s volleyball team from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Titans Field House on the Melbourne campus. Players will be evaluated by the EFSC coaching staff and have the chance to meet current Titans.

The following day, the men’s soccer team will hold an Elite ID camps from 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. at the soccer complex along Post Road. It is for players ages 15 through 21. College recruiters will be on hand, and participants will be evaluated for their abilities. Coaches will hold a seminar on being a college athlete.
