Say what you will about Trey Blount, but the Atlanta native doesn’t lack for confidence.
On Friday, apparently out of the blue, Blount dropped a national championship claim for his chosen school, Georgia. He made the call a full year before he’ll land on campus, with a senior season at Pace Academy ahead. Blount is one of the nation’s top-ranked wide receivers, and a top-30 overall prospect from Georgia. He’s made it clear he has no intention of heading anywhere but Georgia, and clearly was putting forward his confidence in future Georgia success as a way to draw fellow top prospects to Athens.
Will it work? And will he be right? Only time will tell, but given Blount’s talent, confidence and determination, we aren’t going to be the ones to tell him he’s wrong.
Also, for anyone still questioning whether Blount speaks off the cuff, well, check out everything he dished to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in a recent live chat.
