The latest adidas uniforms for this year’s McDonald’s All American Games were unveiled by the two companies on Wednesday, and the results are a pinstriped blend of (some) Chicago professional sports colors and, well, those French fries you’re about to crave.
“This collection of state-of-the-art apparel elevates the style of the McDonald’s All American Games,” McDonald’s All American Games director Douglas Freeland said in a press release. “Adidas is bringing the best in uniform and shoe design to the biggest high school hoops stage.”
The boys will sport sleeved black-and-white uniforms, with touches of red on the jersey necks and short waistlines, which are pretty slick looking, save for the sleeves, which I’ve never been a huge fan of at any level. The girls will wear sideways pinstriped red-and-white uniforms, with black accents here and there. Both genders will sport golden yellow jerseys with black shorts at the Jam Fest skills competition (again, sleeves for the boys).
The numbers, names and McDonald’s logos feature a reflective metallic finish, so you can identify tomorrow’s stars and subconsciously remember to grab a Big Mac at the half.
If I had a choice, I’d side with the women’s garb, which isn’t something I say every day.
The best part, though, as always, is the shoes. It’s all about the shoes. Players will sport red, black and white limited edition signature adidas shoes from NBA stars Damian Lillard (D Lillard 2) and Derrick Rose (D Rose 6), complete with those same yellow accents, camo-print outsoles and, of course, the McDonald’s All American Games logo on the tongue.
“These young men and women have worked tirelessly to reach the height of high school basketball at the McDonald’s All American Games,” adidas director of sports marketing Chris Rivers added in the press release. “It’s an honor to provide these young superstars with the greatest adidas Basketball has to offer, including the same shoes our NBA stars lace up every night.”
McDonald’s and adidas have partnered on uniforms since 2012 (last year’s unis). The 39th annual McDonald’s All American Games will be held at Chicago’s United Center on March 30. In another cool move, the Jam Fest will be at the Chicago Theatre two days earlier.
