USA Basketball invites 35 to trials for Women's U17 World Championships team

Twelve members of the bronze-medal winning USA Basketball Women’s U16 team from last summer’s FIBA Americas Championship event are among 35 players invited to the trials for the 2016 USA Basketball Women’s U17 World Championship Team, USA Basketball announced.

Trials will take place May 26-30 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

The FIBA U17 World Championship are June 22 to July 2 in Zaragoza, Spain.

The trials roster includes two underclassmen who made the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Girls Basketball Teams: Third-team selections Rellah Boothe (IMG Academy) and Rennia Davis (Jacksonville Ribault). Davis was named the MVP of the DICK’S Sporting Goods High School Nationals.

Here are the 12 invited players who helped USA Basketball to a bronze medal last year:

  • Jayda Adams (Mater Dei/Irvine, Calif.)
  • Desiree Caldwell (Frenship/Lubbock, Texas)
  • Aquira DeCosta (St. Mary’s/Stockton, Calif.)
  • Andra Espinoza-Hunter (Blair Academy, N.J./Ossining, N.Y.)
  • Destiny Littleton (The Bishop’s School/San Diego
  • Lauryn Miller (Kirkwood, Mo.)
  • Alexis Morris (Legacy Christian Academy/Beaumont, Texas)
  • Valencia Myers (Solon, Ohio)
  • Sedona Prince (Liberty Hill, Texas)
  • Honesty Scott-Grayson (Blair Academy/Brick, N.J.)
  • Bexley Wallace (Pickerington Central/Pickerington, Ohio)
  • Jade Williams(Prestonwood Christian Academy/The Colony, Texas)

Fifteen additional players were invited based on their performance at the trials for the 2015 U15 team:
