Looking for a new winter sport that is unlike any other? Perhaps you would like to follow in the footsteps of Olympians who have been perfecting the sport for 120 years? Look no further than the Chartiers Valley swim team!
The swim team accepts all new or returning swimmers. The swim team meets to practice eight times a week. On Mondays and Wednesdays, the team has double practices where the first two hours are spent in the natatorium and the last two are spent in the weight room or in the gymnasium. On Saturdays, the practices typically are three hours. Swim meets are on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting in December. The season runs from November to March.
Swimming is beneficial to everyone! Not only does it work almost every muscle, it can be catered to any level of swimmer. Head coach John Nemeth creates practice sets that aim to strength each swimmer’s biggest problems. The Chartiers Valley’s pool has a total of twelve lanes; Nemeth uses this to his advantage by placing students with others similar to their ability. This gets them to push one another while also improving on themselves. Like track, swimming is an individual sport; you get out of it what you put into it.
The first practice of the season is Monday, November 21st at three o’clock. All swim gear is provided by the school, so why not stop by and check it out?
