Oklahoma has one of the top recruiting classes for 2017 and one of the reasons is Addison Gumbs, a four-star linebacker/defensive end from Stellar Prep (Hayward, Calif.).
Gumbs, who is 6-4 and 220 pounds, cemented his position as one of the most versatile players with his selection to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The game is scheduled for Jan. 7 in San Antonio.
Ranked as the No. 10 weakside defensive end by 247Sports, Gumbs received his honorary Army Bowl jersey in front of family and friends when the Selection Tour presented by American Family Insurance came to his school.
Scout.com analyst Greg Biggins said Gumbs “uses his hands well to get off blocks, is relentless in pursuit and does a nice job pursuing and running down plays from behind.”
Those sound like attributes that Sooners defensive coordinator Mike Stoops could find many ways to use next season in Norman.
