Lost in the rubble of Cedar Hill’s season opening loss at the hands of now-top ranked Bishop Gorman was one of the plays of the week, turned in by Cedar Hill star Marquise Foreman … on a fake punt no less!
That’s Foreman galloping around, through and past the Cedar Hill defense en route to a third-quarter touchdown that temporarily cut the Longhorns’ deficit to 17-14. It’s hard to overstate how impressive Foreman’s 72-yard jaunt was. By our count he broke six should-be tackles en route to the end zone, eluding defenders with vicious cuts and dekes to keep everyone — even his own blockers at times — wrong footed.
Of course, all of this was quickly lost in the shuffle as everyone tried to digest Gorman’s one-sided victory in the team’s toughest season-opener in memory. It shouldn’t be, and once the dust settles on the season, Foreman’s fake punt touchdown may well stand up as one of the season’s best special team plays.
