Cam Newton has spoken of his pride in younger brother Caylin Newton’s athletic development. Now the reigning NFL MVP might need to look over his shoulder at the family holiday touch football game, because Caylin Newton may be an even better runner in the open field than his older brother.
That’s Caylin Newton in the highlight above. The Grady star thoroughly embarrassed a “spy” defender during Grady’s 54-0 rout of Decatur, taking off 41 yards for a cakewalk of a touchdown at a blitzkrieg pace.
You can see another view of the younger Newton’s sprint to the end zone — and his subsequent celebration as he walked back to the bench — below. Suffice to say, Newton has some serious skills.
His stats back up those sentiments as well. The senior passed for 392 yards and 6 touchdowns in the victory against Decatur. According to STACK.com, Newton’s big day pushed his season touchdown total to 17 through the air, offset by just one interception.
Now, if colleges could just get over the fact that the younger Newton is just 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, the three-star prospect might become the latest great recruit to have eaten at the Newton household dinner table.
