Like a good neighbor, Vitali Laurentide is there!
That may not have the ring of the traditional State Farm ad, but the Canadian gymnastics coach is the real deal, as he showed during the recent WAG Ontario Championships. Laurentide was serving spotting duty with one of his athletes, Cadence Tuite, practing on the uneven bars, when he noticed her grip slip as she went for her dismount. The coach sprung into action, grabbed Tuite before her dismount transformed into a full headstand, then rolled into a fully protected barrel roll that kept either of the pair from injury.
The entire act was a remarkable amalgam of pure instinct, refined professional form and the caring touch of a teacher and coach. According to Tuite, it was the difference between a frightening and possibly dangerous finish to a routine and a highlight-worthy video that is rapidly spreading around the world.
“It did scare me,” Tuite told Inside Edition. “I knew I was falling, but when he was rolling with me, I didn’t know what was going on.”
