What do Florida place kicking recruits do when it’s too hot to practice outdoors? Trick shots, of course!
The video you see above is Sickles kicker Caleb Morgan, who spent Wednesday with a buddy inside what appears to be the Sickles gym. Without goalposts to aim at, Morgan decided to make things interesting and loft up a backwards attempt from behind the 3-point line … with a football from his feet, of course.
The result? Nothing but net.
Who knows how long it took Morgan to pull off this feat. The reaction of both the kicker and his unnamed amigo (who threatens to steal the show with his over the top camera mugging) would seem to indicate it didn’t take too long.
As for Morgan’s future football prospects, he’s a 5-foot-8, 152-pounder rising junior from Tampa who has a strong leg and plenty of confidence. That might not seem to ensure a collegiate or pro future, but then again, Martin Gramatica was one of the NFL’s great kickers in Tampa with almost precisely those dimensions. Who knows if he could have hit a backwards trey with a football, eh?
