If you’re missing your prep soccer fix now that we’re entering mid-January, never fear, we’ve scoured the world for a soccer highlight from Japan to get you through the winter.
In a second-round game at the 94th annual All Japan High School Soccer Tournament, Chukyo Chukyo (Aichi, Japan) star Sora Imura scored a rather remarkable goal on a free kick from midfield during a 3-0 victory against Otani Sapporo (Hokkaido, Japan).
The excitement of the Japanese announcers takes this goal to another level, too. Spectacular stuff. In attempting to find Imura’s identity, Google translated his name in the first box score I came across to “Imura Spanish mackerel,” so from henceforth I think any goal scored from 50 meters out shall be called a “Spanish mackerel.”
