DJ Harvey from DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) is ranked as the No. 8 small forward and a top 50 player overall by the 247Sports Composite as he enters his senior season.
Harvey committed to Notre Dame two weeks ago, saying the biggest factor is the “trust” he has in Irish head coach Mike Brey and the staff.
Harvey also is looking to follow in a long line of successful DeMatha players at the next level, including Jerian Grant, who went from DeMatha to Notre Dame to first-round pick of the Chicago Bulls in 2015.
Asked about following the tradition and what it means, Harvey said, “It just tells me the trust the process. (DeMatha coach Mike Jones) knows what he’s doing. You can’t take anything for granted. Those players worked hard for everything they received. I just need be humble and hungry.”
