We’re in the buzzer beater silly season across the country, but few games can compete with the best Cleveland had to offer.
In the Northeast Ohio regional final between Garfield Heights and St. Ignatius, the two teams combined four buzzer beaters in a game that reached through two overtimes, not to mention one very memorable halftime speech. Four of six isn’t bad, huh?
Here was the buzzer beater, from St. Ignatius’ Ryan Berger, to end the first quarter:
That was good from behind halfcourt. The second was a nice floater by Garfield Heights’ Marreon Jackson:
The third quarter wrapped on the wildest sequence, with both a Garfield Heights trey and another St. Ignatius halfcourt make:
That left just Garfield Heights’ Shawn Christian to hit a running three to send the game to its first extra period.
The bonus periods didn’t include buzzer beaters of their own, but still packed more drama — and two more big threes from Christian — en route to the Bulldogs’ wild victory.
