It’s early, but this touchdown grab is going to be hard to top.

During Fossil Ridge’s season opening victory against Lamar, junior wide receiver Stefan Cobbs Jr. channeled his inner Tyrone Prothro to concentrate and collect a grab in the end zone completely behind the back of his defender. You can see the miraculous catch starting at the 0:38 mark of the video above.

The entire play was pretty remarkable for the Panthers, who needed almost every bit of the 497 yards of offense they could muster to lock down the season-opening, 41-31 victory against Arlington Lamar. And let’s be fair, it’s not like the Lamar defensive back could have done much more to keep Cobbs Jr. from the ball … or the end zone.

Fossil Ridge will visit Flower Mound next, no small feat. If Cobbs Jr, can put up a performance like he did Friday night, the sky is the limit for his future potential, and what the future could hold for Fossil Ridge’s season.
