Earlier this week we brought you word of a remarkable offensive performance by the other Bishop Gorman, a small school out of Tyler, Texas, scoring 91 points and racking up more than 1,000 yards of offense in a single game. Now we have the video evidence that it really happened.
Above are the video highlights of Bishop Gorman quarterback Jake Smith’s remarkable 10 touchdown performance against Ore City. As you can see, the scoring passes truly came from all difference distances and angles, making Smith’s durability and arm strength all the more impressive. In addition to tying the state record with his 10 scoring passes, Smith’s team’s offensive explosion was by far the largest in school history; the team’s previous best was 68 in a loss in 2015.
Naturally, it’s unlikely Smith will have another performance like the one he authored against Ore City, simply because few in history have ever had a night like that. Ten touchdowns don’t just grow on trees.
Still the highlights prove it happening, and Bishop Gorman’s 2-0 start might just show that it’s a coming force to be reckoned with on the TAPPS circuit.
