We’re still a few years away from watching these two studs face off on a collegiate football field in pads, but for now it’s safe to say that Deerfield Beach wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, one of the nation’s top wideout prospects, has an early edge on Pahokee safety Akeem Dent.
Dent is a Class of 2019 Miami commit, so he’s a full two class years behind Jeudy, who is expected to make his college announcement on Thursday. That may help cushion the psychological blow of being taken so authoritatively by his drill partner, but it won’t wipe it out altogether.
Perhaps Jeudy is just that good. Plenty of scouts seem to feel that way. Or perhaps Dent just didn’t feel comfortable in Gainesville. Who knows. Whatever the reason, it seems a safe bet that neither will forget their Friday Night Lights encounter anytime soon.
