Talk about a false start.
Luckily, Pulaski High School freshman Makenna Kroge has a sense of humor about it. A video of a Kroge’s rough day on the track at an event in the Green Bay area last year has become big entertainment for the rest of the country.
Kroge, who was in eighth grade at the time, is on the blocks getting ready for a race. When the gun goes off, Kroge is left in the dust by her competition. Not because she was slow, but because she was still at the start line after falling on her face out of the blocks.
Kroge’s mom was filming the race.
“Are you OK, honey?” she asks her daughter.
Kroge eventually allowed her friend, Lexi Cornelius, to post the short video on Twitter this past weekend. It became a viral sensation, with more than 22,000 retweets and 23,000 likes.
Kroge and Cornelius were interviewed by New York Magazine and Kroge maintained she’s no longer embarrassed by the incident.
