A number of strong performances have been turned in by athletes in the Lansing area through the early stages of the fall season. The following Lansing State Journal high school athlete of the week candidates were among standout performers last week.

PRESTON GRANGER, LANSING CHRISTIAN SOCCER: The senior defender had goals while helping the Division 4 top-ranked Pilgrims to wins over Division No. 3 Williamston and Leslie. Granger had what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Williamston. He also scored in a 9-2 GLAC victory over Leslie.
KHARI GRAY, HOLT FOOTBALL: The senior receiver/defensive back was a factor on offense and defense while helping the Rams earn their first victory Friday. Gray had four catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns and also had two interceptions in Holt’s 41-7 win over Eastern in what was its CAAC Blue opener.
SELAH ROWE, HASLETT VOLLEYBALL: The senior middle blocker helped the Vikings capture the title at a weekend tournament in Mason. She led Haslett with six digs and eight kills during a two-set win over Onsted in the semifinal. Rowe had a team-best 14 kills and four aces in a three-set win over Bath in the final.
JADEN THEIS, LANSING CATHOLIC GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The freshman continued what has been a strong start to her varsity running career by helping the Cougars to the large schools team title at the Marauder Invite. Theis finished second overall, finishing two tenths of a second behind her older sister with a time of 19:14.6 at the invite. Theis has finished second in all three races she has competed in this fall for Lansing Catholic.
