It’s time to vote for The News-Press high school athlete of the week. Voting will close at noon on Thursday.
Nominees are derived from scores and stats called and emailed in by Lee County’s coaches during the week. Voting begins each Monday at 2 p.m.
Coaches can email scores to firstname.lastname@example.org or call in scores at 239-335-0357. The deadline for each night’s results is 10 p.m.

Here are this week’s nominees based on their performances between Sept. 19-24.

Deven Thompkins, Bishop Verot, junior
The Vikings’ Thompkins closed a comeback 28-24 win over LaBelle on Saturday with an interception. He also added 191 all-purpose yards, including an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown and 102 yards of receiving on four catches with another score.
Chris Curry, Lehigh, junior
The bruising back rushed 14 times for 311 yards and four touchdowns in a 43-6 win over Island Coast on Friday. He scored on runs of 16, 93, 76 and 56 yards. He has 605 yards and six scores over the past two games.
Mindie Mabry, Bishop Verot, senior
The Harvard commit registered 98 kills, 44 digs, 10 aces and seven kills over seven games in a five-day period, six of which produced wins for the Vikings (15-4). Bishop Verot went 4-1 during the CM Cares Invitational at Southwest Ranches.
Kellie Weisse, Fort Myers, sophomore
In a rain-shortened five-hole match against Canterbury and South Fort Myers, Weisse posted a two-under par score of 17 at Eastwood Golf Course on Tuesday.
Luke Farmer, Estero, junior
Shot a four-under par 68 at to win the individual title at the Bishop Verot Invitational at Stoneybrook Golf Club on Tuesday. He led the Wildcats to a second place finish with a 312 team score behind Seacrest Country Day’s 289.
Cydnee Whiteleather, Riverdale
Led the Raiders to a 5-0 victory against North Fort Myers with a 178 game for the match on Thursday.
Andrew Junipa, Cape Coral
Led the Seahawks to a 3-2 victory against Mariner with a 278 game for the match on Tuesday.
Alina Faunce, Estero, senior
Faunce, who committed to the University of Alabama on Sept. 19, helped the Wildcats to a 100-60 match win over Fort Myers three days later by taking two individual events. She took the 200 individual medley in 2:12.27 and the 100 Butterfly in 1:01.71.
Adis Muhamedagic, North Fort Myers, junior
Won two individual events in a tri-meet against South Fort Myers and Ida Baker on Thursday. He took the 200 individual medley in 2:35.75 and the 500 freestyle in 6:19.18.
Girls Cross Country
Alayna Goll, Estero, junior
She posted a season- and career-best time of 19:28 at the North Port Invitational on Saturday, finishing in 10th place during the girls elite race.
Boys Cross Country
Yoan Prado, LaBelle, senior
The Cowboys’ lead-runner produced his best time of the season and career with a time of 16:11.40 at the North Port Invitational on Saturday, finishing in second place overall. It was also the second best time in LaBelle’s program history.
