It’s time to vote for The News-Press high school athlete of the week. Voting will close at noon on Thursday.
Here are this week’s nominees based on their performances between Jan. 11-16:
Taylor Kruse, North Fort Myers, sophomore
Scored 5 goals in wins over Island Coast and Lemon Bay on Monday and Tuesday. The Red Knights, who are 18-2-3, were the District 3A-13 runner-ups.
Jon Jimenez, Cape Coral, senior
The forward scored 2 goals in a 5-2 win over Fort Myers.
Holly Golden, ECS, senior
The McDonald’s All-American Game nominee rang up 50 points and 23 rebounds in wins over Out of Door Academy and Canterbury. Golden is averaging 24.5 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals a game for the 19-4 Sentinels.
Jacob Tracey, Riverdale, sophomore
The Raiders point guard had 41 points, 17 assists and 8 steals in wins over Gulf Coast and South Fort Myers. Tracey is averaging a team-high 17.6 points, 6.8 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game for the 10-9 Raiders.
Mike Delago, Fort Myers, junior
Delago went 4-0 on Friday and Saturday at the Kowboy Invitational in Kissimmee, taking the title at 287 pounds over George Jenkins’ Samuel Harrison by fall in the fourth period. All four of his wins came by pin. Delago is 26-0 on the season.
The winner will be announced at 2 p.m. Thursday.
