If you don’t have your eyes on Donovan Peoples-Jones yet, now would be a good time to start.
The Detroit Cass Tech wide receiver is not only the top football recruit in the state of Michigan for 2017, he’s also the nation’s top receiver for 2017 and the No. 5 overall recruit, according to 247Sports.com.
For perspective’s sake, Michigan hasn’t hosted a Top-5 overall recruit on 247Sports.com since Saginaw’s LaMarr Woodley in 2003.
Furthermore, People-Jones has a knack for showing off his freakish athletic ability, as evidenced by a couple videos that surfaced this week from Cass Tech’s slam dunk competition.
In the videos, Peoples-Jones gets a running start before jumping over three full-grown students for a slam dunk, much to the delight of the crowd.
Words don’t do the dunk justice. Take a look for yourself.
Peoples-Jones also wowed the competition when he won the Nike Football Rating Championship last year at The Opening, a national high school prospect showcase in Oregon. He posted a 42.4-inch vertical jump and ran a 4.42 in the 40-yard dash.
Many of the nation’s top football programs are in the mix for Peoples-Jones, including Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State. He made an unofficial visit to Michigan on Tuesday, according to 247Sports.
