HARRISONBURG — Waynesboro’s boys cross country team came out on top Wednesday in a tri-meet with Robert E. Lee and Harrisonburg.
In the boys meet, the Little Giants captured first with 30, while Lee was second with a 49 and Blue Streaks third with 54.
In the girls competition, Harrisonburg took first with a 23 while Lee was second with 32 and Waynesboro third with 71.
For the Lee Ladies, Sophie Kozlowski was second (23.17), Haley Corbin fifth (24.10), Savannah Corbin seventh (24.32), Kitty Tillen eighth (24.29) and Emily VanAssendelft 10th (25.48). Sabrina Munro was the top finisher for the Little Giants, placing 11th in 26.03. Harrisonburg’s Hannah Miller was first in 22:55.
In the boys meet, Waynesboro took places four through nine to win the meet, with the five scoring runners finishing within 35 seconds of each other. Chandler Showalter led the way in 18:37, followed by Stuart Vailes, Justice Allen, Sam Sikora, Patrick Maneval and Kevin Hicks.
Lee took the top two places as Oliver Wilson-Cook crossed first in 17:36 and Jacob Warner second in 18:09. Cooper Yurish was 13th in 19:46 and Henry Goodson 15th in 19:51.
Lee will travel to Broadway on Wednesday for the Old Valley District championship.
