District A-12 Girls tennis championship
At the end of the first day of the tournament, Canterbury and Community School of Naples are tied 12-12. All five Cougar singles players will face Seahawks players in today’s finals at the Vineyard in Naples, and both of Canterbury’s doubles teams will play in semifinals.

•No. 3 Singles: Hannah Bailey (C) d. Marco Island Academy 6-0, 6-0.
•No. 4 Singles: Lema Abuoqab (C) d. SFCA 6-1, 6-2.

•No. 1 Doubles: Emily Javedan-E. Bailey (C) d. St. John Neumann 6-0, 6-1.
•No. 2 Doubles: H. Bailey-L. Abuoqab (C) d. St. John Neumann 7-5, 6-2.
•No. 1 Singles: Javedan (C) d. First Baptist 6-2, 6-3.
•No. 2 Singles: E. Bailey (C) d. First Baptist 0-6, 6-2, 10-8.
•No. 3 Singles: H. Bailey (C) d. First Baptist 6-2, 6-2.
•No. 4 Singles: Abuoqab (C) d. First Baptist 6-0, 6-1.
•No. 5 Singles: Allione (C) d. First Baptist 6-0, 6-1.
•Canterbury 14, Port Charlotte 13: Peyton Hornung and Krista Thompson both had six goals and two assists apiece to lead the Cougars (15-0).
•Canterbury 14, Port Charlotte 5: Butch Bolger led the Cougars (11-4) by scoring a team-high four goals. Alek Kirschner had three goals and five assists to also stand out.
