BALLARD (6-2) AT TRINITY (9-0)
* Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
* Storyline: Winner clinches Class 6-A, District Four title.
* Ballard: The Bruins – No. 20 in the state in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings – rolled past Jeffersontown 71-0 last week, posting their second straight shutout. Junior quarterback Terrance May completed 17 of 22 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns, and senior Jordan Gunter had six catches for 120 yards and a score. Ballard has lost 23 straight meetings against Trinity (63-0 last year) since a 14-12 win over the Shamrocks in 1995.
* Trinity: The No. 1 Shamrocks rolled past Seneca 58-0 last week as senior quarterback Spencer Blackburn passed for three touchdowns and rushed for two more. Blackburn has accounted for 25 TDs this season (19 passing, six rushing). Trinity is looking for its first undefeated regular season since its national-championship season of 2011. The winner of this game would be eligible to host its first four playoff games.
* Quotable: “I haven’t been here long, but I had obviously heard of Trinity,” Ballard first-year coach Mike Copley said. “You watch the film and you see their receivers block every play like it’s the last rep they’re ever going to take and you see that they’ve obviously set a standard that pretty much every team in the state wants to get to. They’re as good as any team I’ve seen in 18 years of coaching.”
* The pick: Trinity 41-13.
