Week 4 preview/pick | Central at St. Xavier

By

It’s the Week 4 Kentucky HS football preview with The C-J’s Jason Frakes and Chris White looking at this week’s monster games in the Louisville area.

CENTRAL (0-3) AT ST. XAVIER (1-1)

* Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

* Storyline: Both teams look to get back on winning track.

* Central: The Yellowjackets are 0-3 for the first time since 1993 after dropping a 44-14 decision at Christian Academy last week. Senior Corey Johnson was the lone bright spot in the defeat, rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Central managed just 137 yards of offense and committed three turnovers. Central picked up its first-ever win over St. X last year, 20-17.

* St. Xavier: The Tigers were held scoreless in the second half last week in a 31-10 loss at Bowling Green. Senior Sam Taylor rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Senior quarterback Desmond Ridder is expected to make his debut after serving a two-game suspension to start the season. Senior receiver Blake Roshkowski also is making progress in his recovery from an ACL injury suffered last spring in preparation for lacrosse season and could see increased playing time.

* The pick: St. Xavier 28-7.
