Karla Weidner went out on top.

Weidner has retired after nine years of coaching the Carolina Day swim teams along with her husband, Graeme McGufficke.

The Wildcats won the NCISAA 1-A/2-A girls meet for the first time on Feb. 22 with only two seniors — Emma May and Emily Newcomer. The boys brought home state championships in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

McGufficke plans to remain a coach for next season.
