The Windsor High School girls golf team qualified for the Class 4A state tournament by winning the northern regional at Saddleback Golf Course.
After finishing 18 holes tied for first place with Northridge, the Wizards won a four-hole playoff to send all four of its golfers to the state tournament May 23-24 at Pueblo Country Club.
Sarah Johnson led Windsor’s individual competitors by shooting 19 over par, good for sixth place overall in the regional. Jessica Zapf was 21 over (10th), Kinsey Smith 23 over (14th) and Jayden Muro shot 25 over par (23rd).
Poudre was unable to qualify anyone for the Class 5A state tournament Monday at its northern regional at Ptarmigan Country Club.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN 13, THUNDERRIDGE 6 — Senior Alex Gonzales went 2 for 2 at the plate with a double and two RBIs and was walked twice to lead the Lobos (13-6, 9-3 FRL) to victory Monday.
Austin Alarid hit a home run and struck out seven on the mound while allowing five earned runs. Sam Sanchez earned the victory.
WINDSOR 4, HOLY FAMILY 3 — Corte Tapia pitched a complete game to carry the Wizards to their second victory over the Tigers in a week.
Braden Penninger had two hits and scored two runs. Mitchell Watson hit a single and a double.
Windsor (16-3, 12-2 Tri-Valley) closes the regular season on a seven-game winning streak.
FORT COLLINS 11, EAGLECREST 6 — Colby Carlson hit two doubles and drove home three RBIs to help the Lambkins (13-6, 7-5 FRL) close the regular season with a win.
Lane Brlecic pitched four innings and stuck out four batters.
