Chris Lykes, a 5-7 point guard dynamo from Gonzaga Prep (Washington, D.C.) has committed to Miami (Fla.), continuing a run of recruiting successes for the Hurricanes.

Led by four-stars Dewan Huell and Bruce Brown, Miami’s 2016 recruiting class was ranked among the top 15 in the nation and might turn out to be the best in school history.

Lykes, ranked as the No. 16 point guard in the 2017 class by 247Sports, could be a key piece in the 2017 class with other players likely to follow. He also considered Notre Dame, Georgetown, North Carolina State, Virginia and Villanova among others.

Lykes was named the WCAC Player of the Year, averaging 22 points, 4.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game.
