We came up with our list of the Top 10 Football Players ever at Lakeview and then we named the G.O.A.T – the Greatest Of All Time.
Then we asked you for your opinion in our Battle Creek Enquirer poll.
And after more than 3,000 votes, you have given us your answer.
The Lakeview Spartans take the field Friday evening against Battle Creek Central.
According to the readers of the Enquirer, the Greatest Of All Time in High School Football at Lakeview is Donnie Ernsberger from the Class of 2014.
Ernsberger had 1,526 votes for No. 1 to take our top spot in the poll.
Second on the list was Andy Campbell with Frank Kowalski third.

A force on both sides of the ball, Donnie Ernsberger was a dominant player at linebacker, tight end and running back during a standout high school career that saw him be named as Lakeview football Most Valuable Player three years straight. Ernsberger is currently a starter for the third straight year for Western Michigan University where he is a dominant run-blocking tight end. At Lakeview, he helped the Spartans to their first undefeated season in nearly 25 years, getting the team to the playoffs for the first time in nine seasons. Ernsberger led the team in tackles as a junior and a senior with 253 career stops, including 37 for loss. During his senior season, Lakeview held opponents to just 56 points, including five shutouts. Asked to run the ball the second half of his senior year, Ernsberger had 730 yards in just five games at running back with 11 touchdowns, including five in one game. A three-sport star at Lakeview, Ernsberger was the Enquirer Athlete of the Year in 2014.
The popular vote didn’t exactly agree with our list here at the Enquirer as we picked Kenny Higgins from the Class of 1983 as our No. 1 selection.
Ernsberger was No. 3 on our list.
